can you put Abyssinian and crested guinea pigs together?
i am getting 2 more guinea pigs but i already have 1 crested guinea pig but do Abyssinian and crested guinea pigs get along or fight coz i think crested guinea pigs are a lot smaller than abyssinian guinea pigs.
please let me know before i make the wrong choice.
As in introducing all new guinea pigs for the first time, they will need to be introduced gradually. The breeds should be fine together. There isn’t that much difference in size. If anything the Abyssinian may be a little smaller. And of course make sure they are the same sex. I’ve personally have had Abyssinian with Americans and Americans with Peruvians. I’ve never had any problems.
One thing your abby might do is chew on the long hair of your crested, so as long as you aren’t showing and you don’t care…
I had a crested and abyssinian guinea pig together and they were fine the only problem was when one of them got ill and they had to be separated. guinea pigs like company so providing you introduce them carefully i don’t see why there should be a problem.
