Where can I find an Egyptian Mau breeder in the Midwest?

egyptian mau

I live in North Dakota and I realize that there are no Mau breeders in this state, but does anyone out there know of a breeder that is within a few states of me? Any in South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin?

I really want an Egyptian Mau that has been bred by a good breeder. I have rescued my past 3 cats from the humane society and would now like to share my home with a pedigree cat. I have been reading about the breed for years, but have not been able to find very many breeders within my range.

I am looking for a breeder that would let me visit the facility to make sure the cats are kept in good condition. I would also like to meet the parents of the kitten and pick a kitten out of a litter. I plan on fixing the kitten and just keeping it as a pet, I don’t plan on showing it or breeding it. I just think the breed is so beautiful and the personality sounds like something I can handle… I just can’t find a breeder!

There are not many Mau breeders out there. So you are looking at shipping the kitten to you. BTW I had to go to Omaha to get my Ocicat (met the breeder at shows and her home when we picked him up). My next Oci is coming from the east coast so has to be shipped (but she is recommended by several other Oci breeders).

Here’s a website to get you started.

    Hi there,

Yes, the breed is just beautiful and they are very sweet cats. After some searching,I found Mau breeder in Missouri:

She has three male kittens for sale at this time. Information is at that link. She may be willing to ship.

Another breeder in Kanas: There is an email address and website to contact the breeder:

It may be a good idea to contact these breeders since although they are not really close to you, to get referrals from breeders that may not be advertising.

You might also check with the Minnesota Cat Breeders site and contact breeders to inquire about your quest.

Here is one other source for Maus throughout the US.

You should also contact the Egyptian Mau rescue groups, who may also be able to help you also.

But due to the lack of breeders in the immediate areas that you listed, you will more than likely have to do some traveling. I do hope that some of the resources I provided can lead you to a Mau within a closer range.

    Good luck on your quest.
