Why The Cat Is A Cool Breeds

We all know that cats are loving and truly wonderful creatures. These days, it isn’t out of the ordinary to see a cat in virtually every other home, sleeping in the window or cuddling up on the laps of their owners. Although cats have been popular pets for as long as most can remember, they weren’t domesticated less than 5,000 years or so ago. Domestication took place in the valley of the Nile, which is what research tells us today.

In the beginning, people were very grateful to cats and encouraged them to stay with them by feeding them various scraps of food. Once they were fed and perceived humans to be no threat, the cats would move in permanently with their human owners. As time went by, even the wildest of cat would allows humans to approach him, often times even hold and touch as well.

In those days, cats were very loyal and endearing pets. They proved to be great hunters, as they done their sleeping in short periods and were much easier to wake up than dogs. Cats also have better night vision than dogs, and much better hearing as well. If someone moved through the house or if they heard suspicious noises, they would wake while dogs would sleep right through it. Humans loved having cats around, and they seemed to get along good with dogs as well.

These days, cats are used for both companionship and show. They aren’t used much at all for hunting mice and rodent anymore at all. There are a lot of breeds available, from the traditional alley cat to the well known Siamese. All breeds are unique in their own way, and will provide you with years of companionship if you take care of them.

Before you get a kitten or older cat, you’ll first want to examine the source. If you are getting the kitten from a breeder, you’ll want to make sure that the breeder has a reputable reputation. You’ll also want to ensure that the cattery is clean and in good shape. The kittens that are still there shouldn’t be overcrowded, and their surroundings should be clean. The litter boxes there should be kept up and both the food and water dish should be clean and full. The kittens shouldn’t be caged, instead free to run around. All cats that are there should appear healthy, with shiny coats and none of their ribs showing.

When you get your kitten, it should be used to being touched and handled. The kitten should be sweet, not afraid in the least. Kittens that have been handled young normally have a better temperament. The better breeders won’t allow their kittens to leave the nest until they are around 12 weeks old, with some waiting until the kittens are 16 weeks. By doing this, breeders ensure that the kitten is in good health and his immune system has properly developed.

There’s no mistaken the fact that cats are great to own. You can get a kitten from a reputable breeder, through a local newspaper, or an adoption agency. Cats can also be obtained from a local pound, although people normally don’t like to choose this option. No matter which way you decide to pursue, you should always make sure that your cat is healthy. If you get a healthy cat, you won’t have a lot of problems later on down the road. Healthy cats were taken care of - and normally have everything up to date - including their vaccinations.

The Different Kinds Of Toys Cat Will Play With

Do you walk through the pet store, see the many toys available for your cat, and wonder if the expense will be worth it? Cats can be fickle creatures, but a good time can be found with almost any toy. Cats are like children they go through stages and sometimes need age appropriate toys and can get bored very easily. Some suggestions for toys include the cat towers, stuffed mice, small amounts of catnip, stuffed animals, ribbons, and plastic balls.

From an early age, kittens learn to pick up things in their mouths. It is an instinct, just like using their claws. When a cat plays, they like to grab and bit their toys. Let us look at the toys listed above. A cat tower is a great way to teach you cat where it is appropriate to climb. It will keep them off the blinds or curtains while giving them hours of fun. There are many styles of cat towers from the two story towers to the ones rising to the ceiling. The answer to your question is, the more levels they have the more fun and enjoyment they will receive out of a cat tower. A cat will use the tower for play as well as sleep. They like to bat at ropes and other items dangling off the tower as well as going through little tunnels up to the next level. If you have two cats you will have fun watching them give chase to the top often trying to knock the other off. A cat tower can be practical because they will scratch at it rather than your couch.

Stuffed mice are also important to any kitty’s playtime. Not all mice are the same; most cats prefer the small leather mice with the multi colored fur and long tails. These mice come in twelve packs or three packs, and believe me if they are anything like my kitty they will tear them apart. Cloth mice are typically second during playtime. If you find your kitty to be uninterested in mice you might want to check the type of mouse you have bought them.

Catnip toys are very popular. Catnip will cause your cat to be more rowdy, which can be a plus because they wear down faster. Catnip before bedtime is a great way to get your cat to sleep for quite a while and leave you to slumber. Catnip should be given out sparingly. You do not want to give your cat catnip everyday because it can have adverse affects to their behavior. They can start to depend on it and have mood swings.

I have found the best toy may just be your old stuffed animal lying around the house. My kitty, Spooky, will bring me a stuffed animal when she is ready to play and she has stuffed animals in her toy basket. There is nothing more amusing than watching my kitty brings me a stuffed animal bigger than she is and proceeds to toss it in the air and pounce. Cats like the feel of certain things in their mouths that is why they chew on paper, plastic and even your blankets. The feel of the material in their mouths allows them to clean their teeth or when they are teething help reduce the pain. The stuffed animal can work in much the same way and keep them away from harmful products.

To answer my above question you do not have to go to great expense to entertain your cat, however when you spend a little on toys you keep your kitty from getting bored. You may even decide to hide a few toys and reintroduce them after a few months to keep from purchasing new ones all the time. Just make sure it is not the favorite toy of your pet or they may find other ways to entertain themselves that you do not find amusing.

A safari vacation in Tanzania will provide both you and your family with some fantastic safari memories. Tanzania has some of the most luxurious lodges and wonderful guides for the perfect African safari and with only a short flight to Zanzibar you can relax on one of the beautiful African beaches.

Opened in December 2001, Arusha Coffee Lodge is stylish, comfortable and efficient and is an ideal to acclimatise before your safari.

The lodge consists of 23 luxury chalets which are creatively decorated. Each luxurious chalet is spaced throughout the lush coffee grove to ensure privacy and solitude. The beds are very comfortable and furnishings are of top quality with lots of interesting coffee themed artefacts. There is even a little sitting room with couch and chairs off from the bedroom. The elegant bathrooms are grand with nice fixtures including bath and shower. One of the nicest features is the private wooden deck attached to each chalet which overlooks the coffee plantation. As the majority of arrivals are at night, the deck offers a great morning spot to experience your first sights and sounds of Africa. You might spot the first wildlife of your safari as vervet monkeys can be seen as they clamber around

There is a swimming pool and spa area behind the reception and restaurant, and the lodge also has a wonderful bar and lounge area which offers a great atmosphere.

Days 2 to 8

Over the next seven days you will be taken on a private game safari in a fully equipped four wheel drive vehicle with radio and a highly experienced driver/guide. You will have the flexibility to go where you wish, when you wish, and can vary your activities to include walking where possible as well as unlimited game drives, while visiting some of Tanzania’s most famous national parks and conservation areas (fully inclusive of meals and activities).

Days 2 and 3 - The Tree Camp, Ngorongoro Crater Lodge, Tanzania

In the morning you will be met and taken by road in a westerly direction for approximately four hours to Ngorongoro Crater Lodge in Northern Tanzania, where you stay for two nights at the Tree Camp.

Perched on top of the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater and surrounded by some of the most spectacular flora and fauna, Ngorongoro Crater Lodge offers guests accommodation in a truly unique setting. Tree Camp has just six large suites each with Victorian bath, shower, a huge four-poster bed, armchairs and massage room. There are several verandas, each with wonderful views of the 80miles_ crater below you.

Inspired by ancient African architecture, the lodge offers modern, comfortable accommodation in keeping with the natural splendour of its surroundings and takes the form of three small villages. Each village commands awe-inspiring views of the crater floor 500 metres below.
There are three attractive bars and a charming tree house. Hearty breakfasts, buffet lunches and four course dinners quell appetites sharpened by fresh air and safari excitement.

In the early morning of Day 3 your driver will take you down into the Crater for a morning’s safari game viewing. When the Crater becomes busy, you will leave and head off to explore the surrounding area and one of the small craters, before returning to the lodge.

Ngorongoro Crater was originally a volcano larger than Mount Kilimanjaro but approximately three million years ago a huge series of eruptions caused the centre to subside forming a vast volcanic caldera ten miles wide. The floor of the caldera is 1500ft below the rim and on this 80-mile_ area live 20,000 animals of all kinds. There are thousands of wildebeest, zebra, antelope, giraffe and other plains game, lion, leopard, hyena and bat-eared fox and seventeen rhinoceros which have been preserved from the poachers and are now beginning to flourish again. The animals in the crater are used to the presence of mankind, which makes this a good area for wildlife photography, particularly as the crater floor is so diverse with areas of swamp, woodland and dry savannah grassland, all set against the backdrop of the forested crater walls.

In the southern quarter of the crater lies Lake Magadi which is a haven for waterbirds and you can frequently see flocks of thousands of flamingos gathered in one corner making their raucous calls and presenting a mass of pink wings, necks and legs.

To the north east of Ngorongoro lie other craters, such as Empakai and Ol Moti, which provide excellent walking opportunities and if you visit Empakai you can descend into the steep-sided forest crater and admire the beautiful lake that sits in its base. From time to time you meet groups of scarlet-cloaked Maasai herding their cattle and goats, and for those clients staying a little longer in Ngorongoro it would be possible to visit a Maasai boma to see something of their way of life.

Days 4 and 5 - Lake Manyara Tree Lodge, Lake Manyara, Tanzania

Today you will be taken two hours in a south westerly direction towards the Rift Valley to Lake Manyara Tree Lodge where you stay for two nights.

Lake Manyara Tree Lodge is the only lodge inside Lake Manyara National Park. It is one of the most luxurious and elegant small lodges in Tanzania with ten imaginatively designed tree house suites made of local timber, set on stilts among huge mahogany trees. The wildlife includes the lions, elephant, buffalo, antelope, giraffe and a host of smaller creatures, as well as over three hundred and fifty species of birds which you will have the opportunity to see whilst out on your private safari game drive with your guide.
Days 6 and 7 - Tarangire Nomad Shared Camp - Tarangire National Park, Tanzania

Today you will be taken on a game drive two hours east to Tarangire where you stay for two nights at a shared ‘traditional’ camp.

Tarangire is one of the most attractive National Parks in East Africa. The focus of any safari here is the Tarangire River, a beautiful quite shallow meandering river which provides a reliable source of water for the big herds of elephant, antelope, buffalo and big cats, which inhabit Tarangire. The most exciting time to visit is between June and the end of October when this water becomes even more important and over 3,000 elephant migrate into Tarangire from Manyara. One of the most attractive aspects of this National Park is the variety of vegetation which includes areas of open grassland, riverine bush, hill country and wetland and swamps; all of which supports a particularly wide variety of species. The trees of Tarangire are exceptionally attractive and include thousands of huge old baobabs, acacia, cactus-like candelabra, mahogany and sausage trees, with their huge pods which are much favoured by the elephants.

Nomad Safaris have set up a semi-permanent camp which operates throughout the dry season and is located on a private area of land where you can enjoy all that Tarangire has to offer by vehicle both during the day and at night time, and on walks which are fascinating in this beautiful riverine country enabling you to reach out and touch things, examine tracks and learn the fundamentals of bush craft. This semi permanent bush camp is based upon a model which has been used for many years in the Serengeti with large walk in tents proper beds, simple safari furniture and en suite long drop w.c. and bush shower. A cheerful and competent support team runs the camp and an experienced chef prepares amazingly delicious meals which are all the more enjoyable for being taken in this remote and beautiful corner of Africa.

What Are The Pros And Cons Of A Bengal Cat?

I know a lot about their personalities, but I also need to know some of their bad qualities.
I really want a Silver Marbled Bengal.

Information For Domestic Cat Breeds

Do you own a cat but you do not know which race makes the best pet and you have no idea what to do? You can find all the information you need to research online, including what breed the best with your own personality.

One thing you must consider is that if you want a cat inside or outside. Outdoor cats are those who are smarter and stronger, something they need so they can survive. If the cat is small, it should be kept inside the house, so it does not become food for wild animals or large birds. If you have a tomcat is a large breed that survives well outdoors. There is some information of domestic cat breeds.

Persian cats: This race has been around for a very long time. The good part about them is that they are kind and gentle, but they also have a chance of getting allergies or other health problems. When there are people around her happy to play, but in most cases it is not a very fun race. They also enjoy being around other cats and will play with them. There are many colors that could find their way on a cat fur as white, brown, black or a mixture of different colors. The Himalayan is a breed of Persian cats.

The Manx Breed: some of the things people know about this chat is that it has no tail or he has a big one. This is the reverse of this breed of cats. In some cases, the Manx have different parasites or worms, because it is not protected by the tail and it is not cleaned properly.

However, the Isle of Man is a good race, so you should not avoid it altogether. These cats are very playful and intelligent and they can even go looking for things, like a dog does when you play with him. They do love human company when they need them around. If you leave the house for long periods of time you should have another cat to play with the Manx, because they do not like being alone. If there are children in the house, then the ideal environment for them.

What you read above is of three types of cat breeds to choose from. There are many other breeds of cat to you, and you can choose the one that suits your lifestyle best. While most cats are smart and social, some are more solitary type. In most cases, the cat is the one who decides when it needs attention, not the master.

The American Short Hair coat can take many different colors in the models. In fact, nearly 80 different models of color are recognized in this race. This is an all-weather coat that is dense, but not dull. It must be brushed regularly to remove dead hair, if the cat is not himself married.

There are also many personality characteristics in Domestic Short Hairs from the stereotypical aloofness to the surprisingly friendly and social. It is a fairly healthy breed (part of his family cat), it is relatively low maintenance breed, requiring nothing more than health care routine. However, some domestic short Hairs are prone to excess, it is important to give them the opportunity to exercise and play. Those who cannot (or not) engage in the exercise should have closely followed his diet to avoid potential problems related to obesity.

There is a website that has great information on cat breeds and photos of cats of different breeds and temperament characteristics.

What is the Masai Mara

One of Kenya?s national parks and game reserves, the Masai Mara National Reserve has managed to cut itself a niche in the international scene as being among the Wonders of the Modern World. The Masai Mara National Reserve is located on the southern Masai plains, which is home to the Masai people of Kenya, bordering the southern country of Tanzania.

Started as a one of the government?s efforts to conserve wildlife, the Masai Mara has over the years witnessed an upsurge in the number of tourists both domestic and international who visit to enjoy the realities of nature and catching a glimpse of the Kenya?s Big Five: the lion, the leopard, the buffalo, the elephant and the rhino.

With fresh water rivers flowing through the park, the greatest being the Mara River, the park has an assortment of bird and animal species with a consistent growth of Savannah vegetation consisting of tall grass, scattered thickets and the thorny acacia trees.

At the Masai Mara National Reserve, one can behold the largest population of carnivores in the country including the dauntless lion, the supersonic cheetah, the conniving leopard, and both breeds of the malevolent hyena. Smaller carnivores such as the jackal, the wild dog, can be seen rummaging through the thickets in search of a kill. Large herds of different herbivore species are a common scenario in the vast flat terrains on which the Masai Mara sits on. These herbivores include the unperturbed buffaloes, the mighty elephants, the swift and elegant antelopes, the multicoloured zebra and the unsightly wildebeest among others.

The Masai Mara National Reserve came into the limelight due to the enthralling wildebeest migration that occurs annually starting July. This has become a sight to behold and during this period, the number of awe-stricken visitors almost equals the number of animals which is usually about a million and over. The exceptional migration which is triggered by natural instincts occurs as the herbivores move further south into the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania in search of better pastures.

Crossing the Mara River is the appalling part of this great exodus. At this point, the herbivores have to dexterously swim across the raging waters of the river which at the time is usually at the verge of busting its banks, without encountering the shrewd crocodiles that float in delirious anticipation of a meal. This is whole natural orchestration is what drives visitors to the park berserk given that they do not get to have such moments on a daily basis. It also greatly appeals to nature lovers who get a perfect opportunity to document and take millions of photographs and video recordings.

Besides the tremendous wildebeest migration, one can not miss to associate the Masai Mara National Reserve with the all time favourite wild life television documentary on carnivores; the Big Cat Diary. The documentary which is shot in the heart of the Masai Mara National Reserve greatly draws its inspiration from the day to day activities of the different carnivore species that speckle the Masai Mara?s flat terrain.

The Masai Mara National Reserve has also been adorned with accommodation facilities such as lodges and tented camps that are up to the finest taste of style and quality. Sites for those who love setting up campsites are also available.

It is with unquestionably accurate to say that the Masai Mara National Reserve is an arena for nature?s drama and art all together.

Which Cat. Bengal Or Savannah Breed?

I want a pet cat and have narrowed my choice down to either a Bengal or Savannah cat, does anyone have experience of both and any reasons they would recommend one over the other or the advantages and disadvantages of each?
I live myself in a flat so it will be an indoor cat who may be by himself during workin hours most days.
